Dr. Mascolo in Effingham Magazine

Article in this month’s issue of Effingham Magazine, featuring Dr. Mascolo:

Southeast Lung Associates is a privately owned and operated medical group specializing in pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, sleep disorders medicine, interventional pulmonology and pulmonary rehabilitation services. The group has 11 board certified physicians who provide pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine services in over 20 locations throughout Georgia and South Carolina. The group’s Rincon office is led by Dr. Maria Mascolo.

Dr. Mascolo received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1996. She did her residency and fellowship at the University of Virginia and was Chief Resident there in 1999-2000. At Southeast Lung Associates, the group’s mission is to provide the highest quality of care to each and every patient. A personal goal for Dr. Mascolo is to establish long-lasting relationships with her patients. She understands that in today’s society, everyone is looking for a ‘quick fix.’ But, this is just not realistic when it comes to one’s health and overall wellness.

“I want my patients to be active participants in their own health care. This relationship is a partnership. Patients should be comfortable coming to me with questions, and I, in turn, want them to be actively involved in the healing process,” she says. In addition to the Rincon practice, Dr. Mascolo also works closely with the Effingham Health System. Dr. Mascolo sees patients at Effingham Hospital’s Physician Center on Mondays. Moreover, in addition to being the director of the hospital’s sleep lab, Dr. Mascolo is actively involved with the hospital’s in-patient population performing pulmonary consults and procedures, which includes bronchoscopy.

Dr. Mascolo is Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine. Southeast Lung Associates prides themselves on being a regional leader in the areas of sleep apnea, lung cancer, COPD, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease and asthma. Dr. Mascolo strives to be the very best in all disciplines of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. Dr. Mascolo uses the most technologically advanced tools to diagnose and treat pulmonary and critical care conditions.

Whatever your pulmonary, critical care or sleep condition, Dr. Mascolo is ready and exceptionally experienced to handle them. Dr. Mascolo is currently accepting new patients. Please contact her office at 826-3927 to schedule an appointment.
